Google joins Flat Earth Society?

It is with some sense of sadness that I report the early signs of demise of the Great and Noble Google. Oh yeah, their revenues are up, their accounting methodologies a wee bit undisclosed and deal after deal is being struck. Don't take my word for it, try and contact them directly, read the forums, the Disgruntles are increasing and newbies are still naive enough to think that the Internet is actually for them.

It is not that they are dying economically, in that way, they are doing well. It is the cool, colorful, charming spirit of Google that is dying. That thing that makes us the love the youngsters of this world before greed sets in, before the Walmart, Oil companies & Microsoft mentality contagion. Why is it that Davids end up becoming the Goliaths and trying to squash the Davids?

It is greed, my friend! We have learned to love that which was utterly unimportant to us when in our state of innocence.

Do any of you fellow old style internet surfers recall the days when you could perform a random search on a random subject and you would receive answers from all over the world? Now the answers are confined to whoever in some way is connected to Google's source of revenue. A troubling trend.

Is Freedom of world knowledge on the outs? You receive your information from your region - they have joined the Flat Earth Society. If you explore further, you will fall off the edge. The Web is becoming NewSpeak (1984 Brave New World) - limit the landscape, limit the language and you limit life.

The web is more than a giant shopping catalogue. I beg Google to re-look at their founding spirit before it is too late.
